Talk Show Hosts Rick & Bubba Endorse ‘Safe Eyes’ Family Internet Filter
ATLANTA (October 01, 2009) – InternetSafety.com announced today that Rick Burgess and Bill “Bubba” Bussey, co-hosts of The Rick and Bubba Show syndicated to radio stations in 16 states, will be actively promoting the company’s Safe Eyes family Internet filtering software on the air and through various online and offline channels to encourage family-safe Web use.
Rick and Bubba will run periodic Safe Eyes promotional spots during their radio program, which attracts 1.5 million listeners every week for its family-friendly blend of comedy and Christianity. They will also provide a link to product information on the sponsors page of their website, promote it to their large Twitter following, and endorse it through their various other media activities.
The co-hosts are endorsing Safe Eyes because of their belief in the need for tools to shield children from inappropriate online content; the product’s availability for PC and Mac computers as well as the Apple iPhone; and its #1 rankings from respected sources including PC Magazine, Laptop Magazine and America’s leading consumer advocacy organization.
“Having Safe Eyes installed on our home computers lets me rest easy knowing that my family is safe online,” Rick said. “We want to provide the same peace of mind to our listeners, and partnering with InternetSafety.com will help us spread the word.”
“One of the benefits of Safe Eyes is that it works on multiple platforms, including a mobile edition that works on the Apple iPhone and iPod touch that my kids use,” Bubba added. “It’s the best tool we have found to help families, businesses and other organizations clean up the Internet.”
“Rick and Bubba do for radio what Safe Eyes does for the Internet: provide a fun, family-friendly environment. That makes this a good match,” said Forrest Collier, CEO of InternetSafety.com. “Our goal is to make Web use a worry-free activity for the entire family, and Rick and Bubba will make a big contribution by publicizing the need in general and our software in particular.”
Safe Eyes allow parents to block objectionable websites in their choice of 35 categories as well as by URL and keyword. The software also allows parents to limit length and timing of Internet use, block or record instant messenger chats, limit email use to certain addresses, detect the posting of inappropriate or personal information on social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook, and more. It works with multiple Internet browsers including Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari and is the only program of its kind that can be used in mixed Mac/PC households. A single $49.95 annual subscription covers up to three Mac and/or PC computers with the ability to customize settings for each child and enforce them on any machine.
Safe Eyes Mobile, the first filtering-enabled Internet browser for the Apple iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPod Touch, provides similar functionality. It blocks inappropriate pages while giving users full access to the rest of the Web. Safe Eyes Mobile works just like the built-in iPhone browser with pinch and tap zoom, bookmarks and built-in Google search, and has no noticeable effect on iPhone performance. It is available through the iPhone App Store at a special introductory price of $19.99 per phone.
In both cases, the Safe Eyes website blacklist is updated automatically every day, eliminating the need for manual updates.
